When cytokine levels were compared between these groups, patients with diabetes and coronary artery disease had elevated levels of IL-6 (p = 0.020), IL-9 (p = 0.007), IL-10 (p = 0.041), IL-17 (p = 0.008), FGFbasic (p = 0.030), granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-SCF) (p = 0.010) and PDGF-BB (p = 0.021) and decreased levels of IL-1β (p = 0.020), IL-4 (p = 0.005) and IL-5 (p = 0.039) compared to those diabetics with no angiographically significant CAD. Here, IL9 is linked to coronary artery disorder.
