The adhesion between transdifferentiated epithelial cells exhibited a decrease, accompanied by alterations in the composition of cytoskeletal proteins and an increase in migration ability, thus resulting in excessive deposition of extracellular matrix, periepithelial fibrosis, exacerbation of parenchymal structure damage in the small airways affected by COPD, and consequent airflow restriction [26,27]. The gene discussed is DNM2; the disease is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
