To determine how microglia respond to IS, we assessed microglial activation using immunofluorescence (IF) staining for the microglial marker Iba‐1 in the cortex (Figure S1A, Supporting Information) and hippocampus (Figure S1F, Supporting Information) at 1, 3, 7, 14, and 28 days after transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO).
