We also detected increased numbers of NK1.1+CD3+CD4+CD1d-tetramer– cells in CD1d-KO mice, (Supplemental Figure 2D), which are likely CD4+ T cells that acquired the NK1.1 marker, as conventional CD4+ and CD8+ T cells have been shown to express NK1.1 upon acute viral infection (21).
