Contextually, the demonstration of increased JAK-STAT pathway activity in vascular lesions of patients with GCA and the involvement of molecules such as IL-6, type I IFN and GM-CSF, all of which utilize the JAK-STAT pathway, make the efficacy of JAK inhibitors against GCA highly likely (Watanabe and Hashimoto, 2022). Here, IL6 is linked to temporal arteritis.
