Mutations in proto-oncogene IDH1 and IDH2, are usually found in glioma and acute myeloid leukemia (AML), resulting in a hypermethylated profile that confer a selective advantage to the mutated subpopulation of cells, in term of growth rate and stemness capability (Turcan et al., 2018). The gene discussed is IDH1; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
