CFC belongs to a group of syndromes termed RASopathies, which occur due to variants of genes involved in the RAS/mitogen-activated protein kinase (RAS/MAPK) pathway, including BRAF, MAP2K1, MAP2K2, and KRAS (Niihori et al., 2006; Rodriguez-Viciana et al., 2006; Rauen, 2013). Here, MAP2K1 is linked to cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome.
