Our current results showing that VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors might contribute to migraine induction is consistent with the observation that prolonged VIP infusion can also trigger migraine episodes in adults with migraine [11]. Moreover, a mAb inhibiting the PAC1 receptor, did not demonstrate any therapeutic benefit over placebo in a phase II clinical trial [26]. This evidence concerns the gene VIPR1 and migraine disorder.
