Interestingly, Dobbins et al. (2018) found expression of channelrhodopsin under Thy1 favored deep layer CA1 pyramidal cells, and recent studies in the transgenic THY-Tau22 model of tauopathy, where tau is under the control of the Thy1.2 promoter, reported preferential of expression of tau in the deep layers of CA1 pyramidal cells (Viney et al., 2022). Here, THY1 is linked to tauopathy.
