Abnormal 123I-2β-carbomethoxy-3β-(4-iodophenyl)-N-(3-fluoropropyl) nortropane dopamine transporter single-photon emission computed tomography (DAT-SPECT) reveals a nigrostriatal dopaminergic deficit and is considered useful to detect dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson’s disease as well as progressive supranuclear palsy and corticobasal degeneration. The gene discussed is SLC6A3; the disease is Classical progressive supranuclear palsy.
