TGFB1 and cancer: Given the ubiquitous nature of TSP1 and TGF-β1 and expression by many cell types including platelets, fibroblasts, macrophages, and endothelial cells, as well as its reported roles in diverse processes including aging, wound healing, cancer, and angiogenesis (87), tissue-targeted transgenic approaches are needed to better understand functions of TSP1 during disease.
