Regarding the effects of sesame oil in other CVD than atherosclerosis, hypertension and cardiac hypertrophy, Saleem et al. [179] demonstratedpositive effect of sesame oil (5 and 10 mg/kg) against doxorubicin-inducedcardiotoxicity (decrease in necrosis, increase in the level of LDH, CK and aspartate transaminase (AST))through the enhancement of endogenous antioxidants, reduction of lipidperoxidation and TNF-α in rat myocardium. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is atherosclerosis.
