The case-control INTERHEART (a large case-control study of acute myocardial infarction in 52 countries and sponsored by the World Health Organization) study foundthat the non-fasting Apo B/Apo A1 ratio was better than all other lipidparameters for predicting the risk of acute myocardial infarction in differentethnic, gender, and age groups, and therefore proposed its use in worldwideclinical practice [20]. The gene discussed is APOB; the disease is acute myocardial infarction.
