Recently, an increasing body of studies have suggested that hepatocyte PCD played an essential role in MASH pathogenesis, and on top of autophagy, other forms of hepatocyte PCD, including apoptosis, necroptosis, pyroptosis, and ferroptosis, all greatly contributed to the transition from MASL to MASH. This evidence concerns the gene MAS1L and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
