CHIP has been shown to be associated with global DNAm changes, particularly for the DNMT3A and TET2 CHIP driver gene mutations.13 A previous epigenome-wide association study (EWAS) of CHIP in 582 Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS) participants, with replication in 2655 Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) participants, revealed several thousand CpG sites associated with CHIP and its two major CHIP driver genes, DNMT3A and TET2. Here, TET2 is linked to atherosclerosis.
