The OVA1-test, combines five proteins (Apolipoprotein A1, Beta 2 microglobulin, CA125, Transferrin and Prealbumin/Transthyretin) and classifies women into categories of high, intermediate or low risk of ovarian cancer and was recently evaluated in a multicentre study14 where a higher proportion of the individuals predicted to be low risk, e.g. benign, according to the OVA1-test as compare to using CA125 alone remained benign during a 12-month follow-up period. This evidence concerns the gene TTR and ovarian cancer.
