Anti-inflammatory effects of IL-37 have been extensively identified in diverse autoimmune and inflammatory rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) [11,12], systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) [13], osteoarthritis (OA) [14], and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) [15] through suppression of proinflammatory cytokines or inflammatory cells. This evidence concerns the gene IL37 and rheumatoid arthritis.
