At 6 months, individuals in the highest carbohydrate group (65%) who had the risk-conferring CC genotype (rs2943641) had greater weight loss (p < 0.058), a larger decrease in circulating insulin (p = 0.009), and more insulin resistance measured by HOMA-IR (p = 0.015) than those with either the CT or TT genotype.
