Even after adjustment for other baseline patient characteristics (age and BMI), preoperative PSA value, pathologic tumor characteristics, and adjuvant radiation therapy in multivariable Cox regression models, the higher continuously coded preoperative prostate volume (hazard ratio 1.012; p < 0.001) as well as the categorized prostate volume above median (>40 cm3: hazard ratio 1.66; p = 0.005) remained independent predictors of higher BCR rate after radical prostatectomy. The gene discussed is KLK3; the disease is neoplasm.
