Our review highlights findings that supplementation with fruit products like citrus fruits (tomatoes, apples, grapes, and grapefruit) may induce angiogenic effects, anti-inflammatory actions, and antioxidant-induced apoptosis and may modulate pathways such as PI3K/Akt, MAPK, and TGF-β2/Smad2/3Akt/PTEN that are involved in anti-cancer responses. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and cancer.
