We have investigated whether any therapeutics for type 2 diabetes mellitus had anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive effects, and found that inhibitors of sodium/glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2), such as canagliflozin and empagliflozin, might be applicable for allergic asthma because they protect against cardiovascular disorders and renal injury, and reduce cardiovascular mortality in diabetic patients [22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29].
