We concluded that CRD is characterized by fat malabsorption, hypocholesterolemia, and marked intestinal steatosis despite the presence of both plasma and intestinal Apo B. In a subsequent study, jejunal explants of CRD patients were investigated for their ability to synthesize lipids and Apos using labeled substrates such as [14C]-palmitate and [3H-leucine [48]. Here, APOB is linked to chylomicron retention disease.
