RAN and cancer: Among these genes, we identified 66 that were downregulated in QGP-1 and BON-1 cells with MUC1-C silencing (Figure 2F; Supplemental Table S3), which included (i) aurora kinase B (AURKB), a regulator of mitotic cell cycle progression and a potential target for cancer treatment [36], (ii) BUB3, which regulates the mitotic spindle assembly checkpoint [37], and (iii) RAN GTPase, which functions in nucleocytoplasmic transport and cell cycle progression [38] (Figure 2G).
