As expected, PRDX6 removal increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) probably due to the loss of its peroxidase activity and the decreased expression of the transcription factor nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) and the NRF2-independent antioxidant protein glutaredoxin1 (Grx1), in agreement with previous observations made in hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines [21,22]. The gene discussed is PROS1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
