SERPINB3 and cholangiocarcinoma: In human intrahepatic CCA, the presence of high levels of SerpinB3 was associated with lower survival and a shorter time to recurrence [93,96,97], and these findings are in line with preliminary results described in specimens of extrahepatic CCA in which the presence of high levels of SerpinB3 in the bile compartment was associated with a higher frequency of portal invasion and a higher rate of tumor recurrence after surgery [98].
