A series of studies have used Glast-CreER mice in combination with reporter mice to trace the fate of Glast+ cells following SCI and found that a small proportion of PDGFRβ+ cells lining capillaries and meninges, termed type A pericytes, contribute to stromal fibroblasts after either penetrating or non-penetrating SCI7,8,16 and traumatic brain injury, ischemic stroke, multiple sclerosis, and glioblastoma16. This evidence concerns the gene PDGFRB and multiple sclerosis.
