The protein encoded by CCL20 gene, in binding with CCR6, is involved in chemotaxis of dendritic cells (DCs), effector/memory T cells, and B cells, as well as neutrophils, with important roles in skin and mucosal surfaces under homeostatic and inflammatory conditions, as well as in pathology, including cancer and various autoimmune diseases [53,54]. This evidence concerns the gene CCR6 and autoimmune disease.
