The genetic alterations in most ARMS cases (approximately 80%) are well understood, here a chromosomal translocation between the PAX3 [t (2; 13) (q35; q14)] or PAX7 [t (1; 13) (q36; q14)] and Forkhead box protein O1 (FOXO1) occurs. Here, FOXO1 is linked to alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
