SOX2 and cancer: For example, in our preliminary study (data not shown),the high-temperature hyperthermia resulted from GNDs@gelatin-mediatedPTT significantly induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-relatedgene expressions, such as twist, snail, slug, zeb1, and E-cad, implicatingthe potential to initiate the following cancer invasion and metastasis.Besides, such induced high-temperature hyperthermia could escalatethe gene expressions of c-Myc, Sox-2, and Oct4, which are cancer stemness-relatedgenes that play crucial roles in the upstream cascade of tumor growth, metastasis, and drug resistance.
