Wang et al. constructed a genome-wide DNA methylation map of Staphylococcus aureus-induced mastitis in Chinese Holstein cattle and found that CmCGG differentially methylated/expressed genes, such as IL6R, TNF, BTK, IL1R2, and TNFSF8, were enriched in several immune-related Gene Ontology (GO) terms, indicating their important roles in the host immune response and their potential as candidate genes for mastitis caused by S. aureus (Wang et al., 2020). The gene discussed is TNFSF8; the disease is mastitis.
