The research by Liu et al. found that intervention with paeonol (75, 150, or 300 mg/kg/d) for 12 weeks in STZ-induced diabetic rats promoted Opa1-mediated mitochondrial fusion, inhibited mitochondrial oxidative stress, and maintained mitochondrial respiratory capacity and cardiac function in DCM. This evidence concerns the gene OPA1 and familial dilated cardiomyopathy.
