Increased expression of HDAC8 is associated with cell proliferation in various cancer cells (Oehme et al, 2009; Song et al, 2015), whereas mutations in the HDAC8 gene have been linked to Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLS), which is a rare, genetically heterogeneous disorder that affects multiple organs and systems (Deardorff et al, 2012; Feng et al, 2014; Gao et al, 2018; Mio et al, 2021; Saikusa et al, 2018). This evidence concerns the gene HDAC8 and cancer.
