To validate these findings, and to determine whether the capacity of oligodendrocytes to produce Aβ is altered in AD, we performed RNAscope in situ hybridization (ISH) on postmortem tissue from the brains of patients with sporadic AD (sAD) and controls for MBP (a gene expressed exclusively in oligodendrocytes in the central nervous system [15]), APP, and BACE1 (Fig 2A).
