Of note, simultaneous staining for NKp80, CD56 and CD16 (in addition to CD3 and CD45), revealed two minor NK-cell populations which were systematically present in blood of HD: i) NKp80- cells with a typical NK-cell CD16/CD56 expression profile (i.e., CD16-/+CD56lo/+/++); and ii) non-T NKp80+ cells outside the classical CD16-/+CD56lo/+/++ NK-cell-associated phenotype (Figure 3C).
