NFKBIA and pneumocystosis: Notably, Chronic PCP administration in mice (20 mg/kg, i.p., 7 days) up-regulated proinflammatory cytokine interleukin-1β and induced astrocyte and microglial activation in both the cortex and hippocampus81; PCP increased cytokines including p-p65, p-IκBα, p-p38 in the prefrontal cortex of mice2, indicating a significant role of neuroinflammation in the pathophysiology of SZ model of PCP.
