CHD2 knockdown in zebrafish disturbed locomotor activities and caused epileptiform discharges.17 EEG studies in CHD2-knockdown mice revealed elevated resting alpha and gamma frequencies as well as increased cortical synchrony in humans.18 Our patients displayed generalized seizure types and ictal/interictal slow wave complexes despite epilepsy severity, treatment, and independent of stimulus, supporting the intrinsic dysfunction of the epileptic network resulting in an overall increased cortical synchronicity.19 The gene discussed is CHD2; the disease is epilepsy.
