We have also found IBA1+APOE+TREM2+-activated microglia, consistent with a disease-associated microglia (DAM) response in Alzheimer’s disease.28 CD163+CD68+CD16/32+-activated microglia, which are likely to show both proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory potential, were found as well. The gene discussed is CD163; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
