PTEN and Cowden disease: ● Asymmetric overgrowth of adipose tissue (lipomas) ● Development of noncancerous growths (hamartomas) in different areas of the body ● Term used to describe any patient with germline PTEN mutation (subtypes: Cowden Syndrome, Bannyan–Riley–Ruvalcaba syndrome and Proteus-like syndrome) ● Inherited in autosomal manner ● Increased risk of thyroid, skin, and colon cancer ● Intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, delay in motor development, macrocephaly ● Multiple mucocutaneous lesions
