According to KDIGO, CKD-MBD is defined as a systemic mineral and bone metabolism disorder caused by CKD characterized by one or more of the following: abnormal metabolism of calcium, phosphorus, parathyroid hormone (PTH), or vitamin D; abnormal bone turnover, mineralization, volume, linear growth, or strength; and calcification of vasculature or other soft tissues. This evidence concerns the gene PTH and chronic kidney disease.
