To investigate whether the cGAS-STING pathway or the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway is involved in HSV-1-mediated AD pathology, we injected HSV-1 virus into the brains of 5xFAD mice for the indicated time periods and found that HSV-1 infection promotes Aβ accumulation at day 3 and day 7 (Fig. 8A and B), consistent with our findings in Fig. 1. This evidence concerns the gene STING1 and Alzheimer disease.
