HDAC1 expression is lower in patients with PCOS compared to those with non-PCOS at both mRNA and protein level; and its overexpression inhibits PCOS-induced pyroptosis due to decreased protein levels of NLRP3, GSDMD-NT, and cleaved caspase-1, IL- 1β and IL-18, and thus alleviates PCOS phenotype in mouse models (established using dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)). This evidence concerns the gene HDAC1 and polycystic ovary syndrome.
