After thyroidectomy, up to 25% of thepatients develop signs of postoperative hypoparathyroidism, whichcan be symptomatic hypocalcaemia.1 Typically,the level of parathyroid hormone drops early after thyroid resectionreaching its lowest concentration within 24 h.2 Most patients recover, while in a few, the disorder persists.
