While VO2peak has been previously used to predict health complications such as cardiovascular and kidney diseases as well as general surgical outcome in lung diseases (Erman Helper et al., 2024; Gonzales et al., 2021; Salati & Brunelli, 2016), in the context of ACE2 neither VO2peak nor leg strength could be used to separate untrained control subjects. The gene discussed is ACE2; the disease is kidney disorder.
