Guo (10) found that in patients with diabetic cataract, high levels of fasting plasma glucose (FPG), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) were negatively correlated with visual acuity, and positively correlated with intraocular pressure (IOP) serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels.
