To further narrow down potential drug targets, the authors then conducted integrated transcriptomic analyses using multiple Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets for the same purpose and compared the results with findings from the proteomics data, and three proteins (C3, Apoa4, and S100a9) emerged as potential markers or drug targets for stroke as all three displayed significant upregulation in the MCAO model and the GEO datasets. This evidence concerns the gene S100A9 and stroke disorder.
