Remodeling of the actin cytoskeleton with the inhibition of filopodia and possibly lamellipodia is consistent with previous results showing that aspirin and salicylate inhibit TGF-β1-induced EMT in A549 lung cancer cells34, colon cancer cells35, and human lens epithelial cells36, and salicylates can inhibit epithelial cells at the leading edge of the epithelium. The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is lung cancer.
