Although previous studies have shown that white blood cell (WBC) count and C-reactive protein (CRP) is closely related to the risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) (13–16), the association between CRP levels and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in patients with MetS or T2DM remains controversial (17). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
