These results parallel improved memory in male but not female 5xFAD-DUSP6, and although synaptic dysfunction is also thought to underlie Major Depressive Disorder (Duman et al., 2016), hyperactivity of 5xFAD precluded our assessment of depression-like behavior in these mice, as previously reported (Yamazaki et al., 2015; Oblak et al., 2021).
