Patient risk factors associated with the development of uveal melanoma include fair skin and inability to tan, light eye color, occulodermal melanocytosis (risk of developing uveal melanoma 1/400), choroidal nevi, and BRCA1 associated protein 1 (BAP1) mutations, a tumor suppressor gene present on chromosome 3p21.1 [83,84]. This evidence concerns the gene BAP1 and uveal melanoma.
