GPT and cirrhosis of liver: Table 1 shows the baseline characteristics of patients who developed liver cancer and a subset of patients (n = 1969) who remained cancer-free during follow-up. Those who developed liver cancer were more likely to be older (66.90 vs. 62.17 years, p < 0.001), male (74.24 vs. 49.42%, p < 0.001), have liver cirrhosis (13.38 vs. 2.23%, p < 0.001), chronic hepatitis B (14.39 vs. 1.12%, p < 0.001), and a higher ALT (46.17 vs. 27.48 U/L, p < 0.001).
